Complication sales

So you call yourself a minimalist.
You keep things swept clean and uncluttered to keep things
Uncomplicated
If there is something in your life you feel you can no longer use
you discard it.
Put it on the curb.
With a sign
Stating
Free to a good home.
Put it in a garage sale
With a bit of tape
.50 cents
All prices
Are negotiable.
You may find
As time goes by
That minimalism
Makes your life
Awfully bare.
Minimalists have no heirlooms.
Minimalists leave no heirlooms.
It might be an artistic statement
But mostly
It is
Just empty.

Flamingoes and Bears: A Parable
By: Jewelle L. Gomez

Flamingoes and bears
meet secretly
on odd street corners.

Horses and chickens,
elephants and geese
look shocked and appauled.

Ostriches dont look at all.

Bear and flamingo
ignore greedy gazes
from disgruntled parents
and frightened sly weasels
who hiss
as the couple
strolls by.

Chance brought them here
from forest and sea,
but science wont agree
where
bears and flamingoes
learned how simple
building a nest
in a den can be.

Now flamingo and bear
sleep forever entwined
in all sorts of climes
be it rainy or snowy or sunny,
happy to know
there's room in this world
for a bear who likes palm trees

and a bird who loves honey.

pour it on...

the hopkins poem is very nice. nature is grand and glorious. whether it's by god or that nature in itself is a deity is unimportant. and the donne...it made me smile as i know you are a fisherwoman. he paints a nice picture.

here's one i love:

I have loved this poem since the first time I read it....

Something about the author:

Now I will scurry away and find something new....it seems like cheating not to. :-)

Good morning starshine...the earth says hello....
The morning starts with cawfee, rancheros, sunshine and work. Your morning assignment is to find a poet or poem that strikes you....in whatever way. American Academy of Poets

Have fun.
